DENTAL IMPLANTS FOR MISSING TEETH Missing natural teeth? Have a chat with our specialist
Implantology is the latest solution for missing teeth. Tooth implants offer a permanent solution to missing teeth. More and more dentists are recommending them for their patients.
How implantology works
Artificial teeth can be fixed into your gum, almost in the same way as your natural teeth by constructing and implanting an artificial tooth root in your gum that fuses to your jawbone. The root is in the form of a tiny metal post, made of surgical grade titanium.
An artificial tooth is then attached to this metal post. The treatment can be carried out for one tooth or a number of them and care is taken to ensure that the new artificial tooth is the same colour and shape as your existing teeth. The whole procedure is carried out under adequate sedation, minimising any pain and discomfort.
Why we recommend them
Because they are anchored into your jaw, implanted teeth are completely secure and stable. Unlike bridges they are not anchored to adjacent teeth and so do not carry a risk of affecting the structure of your existing teeth. Also they require no special maintenance apart from your usual dental routine of brushing and flossing.

Implant Replace Missing Tooth
Implants are suitable for most adults, regardless of how the teeth have been lost. We will fully discuss the pros and cons with you. There are only a few cases in which we would not recommend them. Before we do, our implantology specialists will do a full examination and an X-ray to ensure implants are the right solution for you.

Orthodontics
If your teeth are not straight or do not bite together correctly, you might consider making an appointment with our orthodontist to examine your options.
Orthodontics deals with realigning or moving teeth through braces. With a choice of invisible braces now available, more adults are opting to take orthodontic treatment for cosmetic reasons. Improving your bite now can also reduce the likelihood of jaw joint problems in later life. Our practice also offers patients the clear invisible Invisalign braces which can straighten teeth in as little as three to six months.
Invisalign can help you get the great smile you've always wanted
because it's...
Invisible, so no one can tell you're straightening your teeth. So
now you can smile more during treatment as well as after.
Removable, so you can eat and drink
what you want while in treatment, plus brushing and flossing
are no problem.
Comfortable, because it has no metal to cause mouth abrasions during
treatment. And no metal and wires usually means you spend
less time in your doctor's office getting adjustments.
Periodontics
Periodontics involves the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of gum disease by a general dentist or a periodontist. Periodontal disease can occur at any age. Over half of all people over the age of 18 have some form of the disease.
After age 35, over 75% of all people are affected. Unfortunately, the disease process is usually asymptomatic and painless. The disease can be easily detected during regular dental examinations. The most common type of periodontal disease are gingivitis and periodontitis.
Gum disease can cause bad breath, receding gums and loose teeth and is the leading cause of tooth loss. Both our hygienists and clinicians can identify and treat earlier stages of periodontal disease. Our specialist periodontist is also on hand for complex cases and advice.
Endodontics and Root Canals
Endodontics deals with problems in the tooth pulp tissue or the tooth nerve. Nerve damage can be caused by a number of factors including deep cavities and even a blow to the tooth. In most cases a root canal treatment is required. A damaged nerve cannot fight off bacteria and is almost certain to get infected or to abscess which can be a painful condition.
Root canal treatment involves making a small opening in the surface of the tooth to access the nerve, removing the damaged nerve and infected tissue and then sealing off the inside of the tooth to prevent another attack by bacteria.
New anaesthetic techniques help us carry out this whole process very nearly painlessly. The process can take a few visits and if you are in need of endodontic treatment, our endodontist can talk you through your choices and what to expect.
Our practice has the rare advantage of a resident prosthodontist who will be happy to talk to you in detail about your options, should you need this treatment, and carry it all out within our surgery.
Oral and dental surgery
Our oral surgery department takes care of dental surgery and procedures such as wisdom teeth removal and extractions.
